Getting to you here
Gosport is its own peninsula. Most jobs arrive by road through Fareham. A few sit at the ferry hard, where the wind is the same wind as Portsmouth Harbour Station. There is no depot on this side. A vehicle at Haslar is not a vehicle at Elson. Name the shore.
Inside PO12
Gosport. The town on the peninsula. High Street, terraces, and a lot of cars parked on the kerb. The work is still at the vehicle.
Gosport Ferry. The hard, the pontoon, and a car park that fills with people who have just missed a crossing. A flat here is a car that still has to leave the waterfront.
Alverstoke. Toward Stokes Bay, with wider streets and village shops. A slower, residential job. Kerbs still catch alloys on the tighter corners.
Stokes Bay. The open shore. Wind, pebbles, and a car park that works in summer. Sand in the bead after a gale is a real fault. Stay on the tarmac for the jack.
Haslar. The hospital and the water. Barriers, staff decks, and visitors. Give the gate. A car on the waterfront road is more exposed than one in the staff bays.
Forton. Inland terraces on the way into town. Ordinary kerbside work. A locking nut on a weekday evening is typical.
Brockhurst. The roundabout and the streets around it. Traffic is constant. A puncture at the shops is a car already in the way.
Elson. North, toward the creek. Quieter streets, still tight parking. Driveway jobs dominate.
Hardway. The hard on the creek side. Boats, vans, and cars that sit for days. Batteries go flat as often as tyres.
Privett. Residential, toward the bay. Leafy streets and family cars. A slow leak on a driveway is the usual call.
HMS Sultan. The naval establishment. Access is controlled. A name on the gate list matters more than the size, at least at first. Give both.
Priddy's Hard. The old magazine, now a visitor ground. Car parks and a waterfront walk. A puncture found at the end of a visit is a car that still has to leave.
Royal Navy Submarine Museum. Another visitor car park on the water. Coaches and cars share the same entrance. Name the museum, not just Gosport.
The peninsula is close to Portsmouth and still a separate piece of ground.
The ferry hard and a terrace in Forton are not interchangeable. Name which.
