Run-flats

Stiff sidewalls, specific pressures, and a different jacking point on some cars.

A run-flat that has been driven on after a puncture may already be damaged inside the sidewall even if it still looks standing. That is inspected before a repair is offered. Many run-flats are a replacement, not a mend.

Pressures and torque matter more on these tyres. The driver sets them to the car, not to a generic chart. If the vehicle has a tyre monitor, it is reset when the fitting is finished.

BMW, Mercedes and a fair few family cars on the island run these as standard. Say it is a run-flat in the first line so the van leaves with the right carcass.
